The 4th International Conference on New Business Models is hosted and supported by the Chair for Corporate Sustainability, ESCP Europe Berlin. It is devoted to bringing together both theoretical and practical insights from the fields of sustainable entrepreneurship, innovation, and transition, on the one hand side, and business models for sustainability, on the other hand side.
The aim of NBM @ Berlin 2019 is to discuss latest developments related to new business models for sustainable entrepreneurship, innovation, and transformation. Contributions to sustainable development, as demanded by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), require entrepreneurship and innovation to foster transitions to future-fit societies that build on values such as responsibility and justice and that no longer destroy the ecological foundations on which they depend. This endeavour benefits from inter-, multi-, and transdisciplinary research. The domains of entrepreneurship, innovation, and transition studies – and particularly their intersections – hold huge potential to offer new approaches to tackle ecological and socio-economic challenges.
Selected works presented at the conference will be considered for inclusion in journal special issues or edited volumes in established book series. NBM @ Berlin 2019 also offers room for PhD and graduate students to present their work. The first conference took place in Toulouse (France) in 2016, followed by highly successful conferences in Graz (Austria) and Sofia (Bulgaria) in 2017 and 2018. The conference in Berlin is the fourth edition. The fifth anniversary conference will take place in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) in 2020.
